Our Congregation
Yellow Lake Lutheran Church is a special, spiritual place serving residents and visitors to Burnett County, Wisconsin. You’ll feel that “special something” the first time you join us in fellowship and faith. You’ll certainly enjoy the historic building, the tall trees that surround it and the church bell that rings out across the countryside at the start of every service. But it’s the people — our pastors and our congregation who make Yellow Lake Lutheran really special. Everybody really does know your name – and we are just as ready to support each other in times of need, as we are to support our community and celebrate birthdays and other milestones in our extended family.
We invite you to show up early for Sunday service. Grab a cup of coffee and a treat, then join the rousing conversations that fill the sanctuary until the service begins. Getting to know each other is important to us. Then join us in worship, prayer and song. Our wonderful Pastors take turns leading our services in their own unique, engaging styles. The whole experience is warm and intimate and we think you’ll like that. Visit us once and we have faith that you’ll want to stay!

Church Disturbance Response Policy
12/12/2023 Reviewed
Yellow Lake Lutheran Church is a welcoming community of faith. Circumstances may arise that make it necessary for church safety team members to respond to a group or an individual disrupting worship service. The safety team members will provide a physical presence in support of the Pastor and congregation.
In the event of a person disturbing a church service, assess what kind of disturbance is being presented. Any threatening behavior, presence or reference to a weapon or physical displays of anger (throwing things, striking object) should immediately trigger a 911 call for police service. Safety team members will assist the Pastor and any threatened congregation members to places of greater safety.
If a person is merely loud and disruptive, safety team members will come forward and follow the Pastor’s lead as she/he tries to discover what issue or conflict is being expressed. Sometimes letting an upset person verbally vent for a brief time is helpful: it can help deescalate them and give an idea of what they’re upset about.
Every effort will be made to secure a verbal resolution with a disorderly person. They will be asked to leave, and safety team members will be patient in giving them every chance to leave. If an individual refuses to leave they will be advised that the police will be called to remove them if they don’t comply.
Safety team members shall not use physical force to eject a disorderly person; the danger of injury to the disorderly subject, team members and churchgoers is too great. However, in the extreme event of a disorderly person physically assaulting a safety team member or congregant any person has the right under Wisconsin law to defend any attack on their person. Safety team members may intervene to defend anyone being assaulted by a disturbing person to the extent they are trained and willing. 911 will be called for any assaultive behavior and an incident report written.
The Church council will review any church service disruption incidents, review incident reports and will decide if any disruptive behaviors require criminal trespass or any other ongoing protective strategies.
